Testing Overview

India’s Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecommunication Equipment (MTCTE) is administered by the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC). Its Essential Requirements for network equipment such as routers include IPv4/IPv6 technical requirements, and the IPv6 laboratory established by TEC is also recognised by the IPv6 Ready Logo Committee. India IPv6 pretesting completes a rehearsal test against the target requirements before formal submission, exposing protocol implementation and network adaptation issues early, allowing time for remediation and reducing the risk of formal test failure and market launch delay.

Applicable Product Scope

Device categories covered by IPv4/IPv6 technical requirements under the MTCTE framework, including but not limited to: Wi-Fi access points and CPEs, PON equipment, layer-3 switches/routers, enterprise gateways, mobile phones, tablets, IoT devices with IP access, layer-2 switches, broadband remote access servers, load balancers and firewalls. The specific Essential Requirements clauses that apply depend on the device type and are confirmed item by item with the client after acceptance.

Test Duration and Sample Requirements

The pretest duration depends on the product form and the scope of test items; it is recommended to schedule it before the MTCTE formal application submission to leave time for remediation and retesting. Samples are production devices of the same model planned for the Indian market, in a quantity that covers the declared interfaces and service forms, with the specific list confirmed with the client after acceptance.
