Certification Overview

NCC certification is administered by the National Communications Commission of Taiwan. It is a mandatory certification regime, based on the Telecommunications Act, for radio communication equipment and telecom terminal equipment circulating and used in the Taiwan market. Since 2006, Taiwan’s NCC has regulated low-power radio frequency devices and telecom terminal equipment: all such devices sold or used in Taiwan must obtain NCC certification and display the NCC mark before entering the market.

Product Scope

NCC classifies regulated devices into three categories: low-power radio frequency devices, public switched telephone network (PSTN) equipment, and telecom terminal equipment.

Low-power radio frequency devices

• Wireless network equipment: WLAN routers, wireless network cards, access points (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz)
• Bluetooth devices: headsets, speakers, keyboards/mice, modules
• RFID equipment: readers and electronic tags (125 kHz / 13.56 MHz / 922-928 MHz etc.)
• ZigBee devices: modules, smart home wireless control devices
• Short-range wireless devices: remote controls, doorbells, walkie-talkies, wireless microphones
• Wireless audio/video devices: wireless headsets, wireless cameras (RF part)
• Wireless charging equipment: charging pads and stands
• Other wireless products: wireless keyboards and mice, radio-controlled toys, wireless alarm devices

PSTN equipment

• Corded telephones (including VoIP), fax machines, answering machines, automatic alarm equipment, remote control devices

Telecom terminal equipment

• Mobile phones, data cards, xDSL terminals, routers with telecom interfaces, set-top boxes
