UAE RoHS Certification

Certification Overview

UAE RoHS is the mandatory certification regime restricting hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment in the UAE. It limits the content of hazardous substances in such products to protect the environment and consumer health, and is overseen by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT, formerly ESMA). The restricted substances (10 in total) are lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), and four phthalates (DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP). Products that fail certification face market exclusion or substantial fines.
