Brazil ANATEL Certification
Certification Overview
ANATEL (Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações) is Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency, regulating telecom and radio-related products. Any product that connects to a telecom network or has wireless communication capability — mobile phones, routers, IoT devices, and similar — must be certified by ANATEL before it can be legally sold or used in Brazil.
ANATEL certification is divided into mandatory and voluntary categories, and the approval procedure is the same for Brazilian and foreign products. Where mandatory certification applies, test results and reports must comply with the rules and regulations adopted by ANATEL, and the product must obtain the ANATEL authorization certificate before being placed into use.
Three Categories of Telecom Equipment Require Mandatory Certification
Category I
- Terminal equipment connected to the fixed switched telephone service (FSTS) network through an endpoint
- Equipment connecting private telecom networks to the FSTS network
- Equipment connected to the FSTS network for the purpose of providing value-added services
Includes: mobile phones, satellite phones, VoIP phones, phone batteries, charging cables, telephone signal cables, modems.
Category II
- Any radio-using equipment not covered by Category I, such as low-voltage devices, license-exempt equipment, and antennas
Includes: TV and radio antennas, receivers, transmitters, wireless network equipment, RF automation devices.
Category III
- Any equipment regulated by ANATEL rules and regulations not covered by Category I or II
Includes: optical fiber cables, cable connectors, mobile network signal transmitters.
Our Advantages
