Saudi SASO Certification
Certification Overview
SASO (Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization) is the national standards body of Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia requires all imported goods to comply with local mandatory safety and related standards, and every shipment of imported goods must be covered by a valid certificate of conformity — an essential condition for customs clearance.
Product Scope
Main categories include, but are not limited to:
- Home appliances and electronic equipment: lighting, air conditioners, refrigerators, TVs, chargers
- Machinery and components, automotive parts
- Construction materials: ceramics, sanitary ware, pipes, coatings
- Toys, chemicals, cosmetics, food contact materials, textiles, footwear
Certification Process
Documentation preparation: technical files (Arabic-language manuals, CB/CE reports), test reports covering the full product lifecycle, and an ISO 9001 certificate.
Laboratory testing: safety (overcharge/short-circuit protection), performance (cycle life ≥ 500 cycles), and environmental testing (salt spray, high/low temperature) completed at a SASO-recognized laboratory.
SABER platform registration: the Saudi importer or authorized agent submits the application and obtains the PCoC (Product Certificate of Conformity) and SCoC (Shipment Certificate of Conformity).
Inspection and issuance: high-risk products require on-site inspection; certificates are issued within 1–3 working days after passing.
