On August 12, 2026, Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) published Act No. 10.400/2026, amending Act No. 14.448 and narrowing the frequency range currently allowed for Wi-Fi operation within the 6 GHz band, limiting the operating range of the 6 GHz band to 5925-6425 MHz.
The act becomes mandatory on March 1, 2027.
Core change
After the new rule takes effect, the 6425-7125 MHz range (700 MHz of bandwidth in total) will no longer be open to Wi-Fi equipment.

The band adjustment is part of ANATEL’s spectrum strategy, reserving the upper 6 GHz range for IMT / mobile services to support future 5G-Advanced and 6G network deployment, in line with the international spectrum coordination direction that followed WRC-23 (the 2023 World Radiocommunication Conference).
Key milestones
- August 11, 2026: ANATEL’s board approves the decision unanimously (Acórdão nº 203/2026)
- August 12, 2026: Act No. 10.400/2026 is officially published and takes effect immediately
- Aug 12, 2026 – Feb 28, 2027: transition period, with the old and new rules running in parallel
- March 1, 2027: mandatory enforcement date — all newly certified products must comply with the band restriction
Transition arrangements
For products already ANATEL-certified with a validity extending beyond the enforcement date, the frequency range must be brought into compliance during the periodic maintenance procedure of the corresponding certification.
Impact on Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 products

Manufacturers of Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 equipment for the Brazilian market should pay close attention to this regulatory change.
- Products must ensure compliance with the Brazilian configuration, limiting the operating range of the 6 GHz band to within 5925-6425 MHz.
- After the new rule is fully enforced, equipment sold to Brazil must disable operation in the 6425-7125 MHz range.
